Former Rangers defender Hutton believes Linfield teen Charlie Allen would be Ibrox hit

Former Rangers defender Alan Hutton believes Linfield teenager Charlie Allen would be a perfect fit for the Ibrox club.

It has been reported that Rangers have made an offer for the 16-year-old attacking midfielder.

Allen has been on the radar of a number of clubs in England and Scotland, including Liverpool, Tottenham, Manchester City and Leeds United.

But speaking to Football Insider, Hutton believes Rangers are frontrunners to sign the youngster.

“They’ve obviously got the connection with Linfield as well so he’s probably grown up supporting Rangers and it would be a massive dream come true for him," he said.

“It looks like one for the future, very young, still only 16 so he’d probably go into the youth setup and trying to push for the first team. It just goes to show what Rangers are looking for.

“They’re not looking to go down the route of getting a quick fix, try and get up with Celtic by spending lots of money.

"They’re looking to the future, looking for young prospects who are hungry and willing to work to go and prove themselves.”
