Former Rangers and Liverpool player Jon Flanagan finds new club as defender heads overseas

Former Rangers defender Jon Flanagan has found a new club.

The 27-year-old, who departed Ibrox in the summer, has signed for Belgian league leaders Charleroi.

Flanagan joined Rangers in 2018 and spent two seasons at the club, although he struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at full-back.

He'd been training with Fleetwood Town, managed by ex Ibrox midfielder Joey Barton, after leaving Rangers but has had to wait to find his next club.

It was confirmed today that Flanagan had signed a one year deal with the Belgian First Division side, with the option of another year should things work well.

Confirming the news, Charleroi tweeted: "It looks like we have a new zebra here. Welcome @jon_flan93."

Flanagan started his career at Liverpool and spent eight years at the Anfield club. He also spent time on loan at Burnley and Bolton Wanderers.
