Former Rangers and Kilmarnock defender Kirk Broadfoot's comments don't worry Angelo Alessio

Angelo Alessio is standing by his training methods at Kilmarnock after Kirk Broadfoot blasted the Italian boss when he left for St Mirren.

The centre-back claimed that training at Rugby Park was flat and he had to do his own running to keep fit.

But Alessio has refused to slam Broadfoot and instead wished him well with the rest of his career.

The Italian said: “I think every manager has their own methods, and I believe in my methods.

“I wish Broadfoot all the best, but it’s impossible to keep every player happy as a manager.

“Every week I have to decide the best XI to play, and of course some players will be unhappy because they could be on the bench.

“I understand this, it’s normal. Of course, I am disappointed for Broadfoot, but it’s okay.

“My focus is all of the team, and I have to think about everyone.”

Broadfoot also claimed he wasn’t the only player unhappy.

The defender said: “I know Alessio has worked at some top clubs with top players but I am not sure it was right for the guys we had at Kilmarnock.

“The majority of the players found it hard and I am not sure how many of them enjoy it.

“I gave it a go but it became harder and harder and I just wasn’t enjoying it. I’m in the last few years of my career and I just want to enjoy playing for as long as I can.

“I knew if I had stayed at Kilmarnock and things had remained the same I would have ended up walking away from football and I didn’t want that to happen.”

However, Alessio responded: “I don’t know if there are other players who are unhappy or doing their own training.

“They have not told me this but I think they are all working very hard in training every day.

“But I don’t want to talk more about this situation because we have to focus on our game against Hibernian on Saturday.”
