Former Rangers and Dumbarton midfielder Kyle Hutton a target for East Kilbride

New East Kilbride boss Stevie Aitken could make former Rangers and Dumbarton midfielder Kyle Hutton his first signing at K-Park.

Lanarkshire Live Sport understands the 29-year-old has been offered a deal to join the Lowland League side.

Aitken brought Hutton to Dumbarton in 2017 and is keen to work with him again after last week being announced as the new Kilby boss, where he is assisted by his brother Chris and Rangers legend Ian Durrant.

Asked if he was looking to sign Hutton, Aitken told Lanarkshire Live Sport: "I can't really give names at the moment.

"We've spoken to 8 or 9 players, but until we sign people and they agree we keep things close to our chest.

"I can't comment on names, but the level we are looking at is a level of player to take the club forward."

The EK boss has already hinted he intends to add some big signings at K-Park.

Earlier this week he told us: "Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we can start signing some players and you can see how ambitious we are going to be."

It's understood Kilby are keen to push the boat out this year as they bid for an elusive promotion from the Lowland League.

Hutton is out of contract at Dumbarton and would bring a wealth of experience, having made over 50 appearances for Rangers when East Kilbride's famous son, Ally McCoist, was gaffer. He has also featured for Partick Thistle, Dunfermline, Queen of the South, St Mirren and Airdrie.

Meanwhile, East Kilbride have released defender Dean Cairns and midfielder Kieran Gibbons as the Aitken revolution gets underway.
