Former Rangers and Celtic Euro ref 'arrested' as Police probe Bosnian prostitution ring

A referee who once took charge of Rangers in the Europa League has been arrested as part of a police probe into a prostitution and drugs ring in Bosnia.

Slovenian official Slavko Vincic was the man in the middle when Rangers beat Legia Warsaw at Ibrox through a late Alfredo Morelos header in August last year.

And Vincic was also the ref when Celtic gained a credible 1-1 draw in a Champions League clash at Manchester City four years ago.

But he's been locked up as part of an investigation into prostitution and drugs in Bosnia, with 26 men in total arrested after they seized cocaine, weapons and cash.

The whistler was quizzed by police, but the Maribor-based official insisted he had done nothing wrong.

He said: "After a meeting with some business partners, there was an invitation to a party at a ranch to which we responded.

"After the police raid we were invited to an informative interview, where I explained that I did not know these people at all. Afterwards they gave me the green light to return home to Slovenia."

And Slovenian FA ref chief Vlado Sajn said: "It is a coincidence that Vincic was there. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"But the stain on his reputation could damage his refereeing career."
