Former Los Angeles Rams running back Jon Arnett died at the age of 85 on Saturday of heart failure, the University of Southern California announced Monday.
Arnett was a five-time Pro Bowler with the Rams in his seven seasons in Los Angeles. He was the No. 2 overall pick by the Rams in the 1957 NFL draft and had at least 650 yards from scrimmage in each of his first five seasons.
In 1958, he was selected as a first-team All-Pro after rushing for 683 yards and six touchdowns, and adding 494 yards receiving to give him 1,177 yards from scrimmage on the year. That year, he also led the NFL in punt return yards, showcasing his incredible versatility.

Arnett finished his career with the Bears from 1964-1966. Neither the Rams nor the Bears made the postseason while Arnett was with them, so he never got the chance to play in a playoff game.
In total, Arnett rushed for 3,833 yards and scored 26 touchdowns on the ground. He also caught 222 passes for 2,290 yards and another 10 touchdowns.
