Former Raiders LT Jared Veldheer announces retirement from NFL

The Oakland Raiders have had their fair share of draft misses over the years, but they deserve some credit for some of their hits, as well. Today, we are going to celebrate one of their best third rounds picks of the decade.

In 2010, the Raiders selected offensive tackle Jared Veldheer in the third round from Hillsdale. The team got a lot of criticism for the selection, but they got the last laugh as Valdheer turned into quite a productive NFL player.

Veldheer started 48 games for the Raiders before signing a massive deal with the Cardinals in 2014. On Tuesday, he announced his retirement after signing with the New England Patriots just a few days ago.

While Veldheer never made a Pro Bowl, he was one of the better left tackles in the league during the decade. Congratulations go out to him for his excellent career and we wish him well during his retirement.
