Free agency opened some six weeks ago and yet somehow Daryl Worley remained unsigned, despite being a starter the past two seasons in Oakland. With the draft complete, each team listed all the players who remained unsigned by them or another team as not returning. Worley was among those players. A day later, he had agreed to terms with the Cowboys.
The Cowboys lost starting cornerback Byron Jones this offseason, as he signed a record deal to join the Dolphins. The Raiders were also reported as having offered Jones a record contract.
Both teams added two cornerbacks in the draft last weekend. The Raiders drafted Damon Arnette at No. 19 overall and Amik Robertson in the fourth round. The Cowboys landed Trevon Diggs in the second round and Reggie Robinson in the fourth round.
Worley was victimized a lot last season, but had played well at times over his two seasons with the Raiders and some team was going to give the 25-year-old a shot. He is known as an aggressive, competitive corner who is a strong tackler.
