PATIALA: Former Punjab Chief Minister and Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) President Captain Amarinder Singh has undergone a spinal surgery in London hospital on Saturday and has been shifted to a private room.
Capt Amarinder who had stayed away from the campaign for BJP candidate Kewal Singh Dhillon during Sangrur bye-elections had gone to London around 10 days ago for treatment of his backache as he was earlier also reportedly recommended spinal surgery by one of the reputed medical institute in India.
PLC Chief Spokesperson Pritpal Singh Baliawal on Saturday evening tweeted @capt_amarinder singh underwent a successful spinal surgery in a London hospital today. According to Ms Preneet Kaur, who is with him in London, the surgery was successful and he was shifted to a private room in the hospital. He will be discharged on Monday.
Amarinder, who served as CM for over 9 years including 2002 – 2007 and then 2017 –2021, had lost to AAP’s Ajit Pal Singh Kohli with a huge margin in his Patiala urban seat. In September last year he had unceremoniously resigned from the Congress, later floated his PLC and then made an alliance with the BJP that already had made SAD (Sanyukt) as its ally.
