Former PSG star sparks fresh racism storm - goal was ‘not bad for a black guy’

French commentator Daniel Bravo has sparked outrage with his remarks about Strasbourg striker Nuno Da Costa.

Bravo, 56, spent a large chunk of his playing career with PSG and made over 200 appearances for the Ligue 1 champions.

He was commentating on Strasbourg's 4-0 win over Reims for beIN Sports as Da Costa found the net.

Following the goal, Bravo suggested it was "not bad for a black guy".

The comment caused outrage on social media with Bravo attempting to make amends as he met the striker after the match.

Racist abuse of Moise Kean is yet another example of why it's time to walk

Da Costa uploaded an image of the pair on Twitter , posting: "No worries, a slip of the tongue happens, he works too much!

"@beinsports_EN stop the games in the middle of the week please."

BeIN Sports offered an apology for the incident after viewers issued complaints over Bravo's comments.

"beIN SPORTS and its consultant apologise for the remarks made during the Strasbourg - Reims match, which can be considered shocking and are counter to the values advocated by the channel and its editorial staff," the statement said.

"beIN SPORTS recalls that it fights against all forms of discrimination, in particular racism, and promotes diversity, equality and respect through all its broadcasts."

Football chiefs plot to crack down on racism with 3 strikes plan and new body

The incident came just 24 hours after Juventus youngster Moise Kean was racially abused by Cagliari fans during a Serie A encounter.

Kean responded to the taunts by celebrating his goal with his arms outstretched in front of the supporters.

His Juventus teammate Leonardo Bonucci suggested Kean must shoulder some of the blame for the incident, with the likes of Raheem Sterling and Paul Pogba publicly criticising the Italian.
