Former Premier League striker names the main problem for Spurs after Leicester defeat

Former Premier League striker Tim Cahill has claimed that Spurs' poor away from is due to the 'mentality' of the players.

Tottenham were leading 1-0 against Leicester going into half time on Saturday, but were again pegged back for the third away game in a row. Goals from Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison cancelled out Harry Kane's opener to give the Foxes a 2-1 win in an action packed game.

Both teams also saw a goal each ruled out via VAR.

The defeat means that Spurs have now won just one of their last nine away games, and just one of their last five Premier League games. Mauricio Pochettino's men have also lost leads in their last three away games in all competitions, and Cahill believes that that may have been playing on their mind at the King Power Stadium.

“For me the issue is their mentality," he said on Match of the Day.

"To have that mark on them of leading 2-0 against Arsenal and Olympiacos, you could see against Leicester it was an issue."

The Australian also pinpointed what Spurs players needed to do in order to pull themselves out of the rut.

“They only have one win away in their last nine games," he said. "They need to show more pride for their badge."
