Former Premier League star's mum in hilarious David Moyes exchange over 'failed' Everton transfer

One former footballer's mum has been involved in a hilarious exchange with David Moyes on Friday morning over a 'failed' Everton move for her son.

The former Blues boss was speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, but won't have been expecting to field a brilliant question over one particular transfer rumour from his time on Merseyside.

Moyes spent 11 years at Goodison Park and helped Everton climb up the table in that time, leading them into Europe and to an FA Cup final in 2009.

The manager bought many players across that time, but one who never put pen to paper was Robbie Savage.

The vital spine that proves Everton's experienced stars must complement Marcel Brands' summer transfer policy

The former midfielder enjoyed a long Premier League career with the likes of Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and Derby County - but was once linked with a move to Everton as well.

The transfer never came off, and Savage's mum Val has now been involved in a joking exchange with Moyes live on the radio about it!

She said: "I just want one question, why didn't you sign our Robert to go to Everton?

"He had his heart set on coming to you!"

The former Blues boss obviously took things in good spirits, replying: "But do you remember how much money he asked for?! I think he said you were his agent!"

The exchange between the pair had Robbie Savage in hysterics as he sat in the studio listening.

Moyes left Everton in 2013 to become manager at Manchester United, and has since had spells back in the Premier League with both Sunderland and West Ham.
