Lewisham’s first multi-screen cinema in almost 20 years will open in Catford town centre next week.
Developer Really Local Group said it has built a “creative community hub” at a former Poundland as part of a drive to attract residents back as traditional retailers close.
The 14,000 sq ft venue, Catford Mews, launches on Wednesday with a three-screen cinema, a space for live music and comedy, and a food market.
Co-working areas and an exhibition space are planned.
Really Local Group’s Preston Benson said: “It is my aim to make Catford Mews the envy of south London, a destination for the people of Catford and the surrounding area.”
The cinema has 220 seats, with prices from £4.99 to £5.99 for children and £6.99 to £9.99 for adults.
A family favourites screening on Sundays will be £2 per person.
Catford’s last cinema, the ABC, closed in 2001.
