Former Perdu bouncer still suspended - despite being cleared of assaulting teenage girl

A bouncer who was cleared of assaulting a teenager in a Newcastle nightclub is still suspended from working on the doors, it can be revealed.

Magistrates took just minutes to clear Otto Prins of the alleged Halloween attack on 19-year-old Lauryn Parker at Perdu.

Newcastle Magistrates' Court heard the teenager had drank up to 10 vodkas before ripping the doorman's earpiece from his ear.

It was then claimed she stood and "waited for a reaction" from Mr Prins while swearing at him.

The court heard she then had been "making a nuisance of herself" before falling on the floor.

It was then when Mr Prins, from Ryton, tried moving her to keep the corridor clear.

He told the court: "I would not kick anybody. I’m there to protect the customers, to have a dance and a drink.”

He'd earlier told police he hadn't assaulted her, stating: “I was just doing my door supervision duties.”

Before the case went to court, Mr Prins was sacked by the Diamond Strip bar after a video of the alleged attack was posted on Facebook.

The 53-year-old grandad's licence was also suspended by the Security Industry Authority, which regulates door staff.

Now, the watchdog has confirmed his "licence remains suspended" despite him being cleared in court.

It was unable to clarify if Mr Prins - a doorman for almost 20 years - had appealed its decision.
