Former Penn State QB Trace McSorley to work out at Eagles Pro Day

Whether it be as an athlete or quarterback, there is a place in the NFL for former Penn State star quarterback, Trace McSorley. The former Nittany Lion star is now facing the next phase of his career as an underdog of sorts, unsure of his position at the next level or his fit. Adam Caplan is reporting that McSorley was work out at the Eagles “local prospect” day, which allows every NFL club to host an unlimited number of incoming players with geographic ties to the team’s home market.

McSorley, who is viewed as an athlete by many in NFL circles declined a request to work out with defensive backs at the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He instead chose to concentrate on developing his skills as a passer.

“I haven’t done a [secondary] backpedal in like five and a half years,” McSorley said at the Penn State Pro Day. “I’ve just been focused on quarterback, and that’s where my mindset is.”

NFL.com’s prospects profile, views McSorley as a likely undrafted free agent, who should be one of the first signal-callers signed after the draft.
