Former Pen & Wig being turned into bar dedicated to The Beatles

A former city centre pub is being turned into a new bar and restaurant dedicated to The Beatles.

Work is set to begin next week on Abbey Road which will be filled with artwork inspired by the famous Liverpool band.

The bar will be based on Harrington Street in the site which was previously home to the Pen & Wig. Harrington Street is also home to The Croc and nightclub Kingdom.

Inside Abbey Road, there will be Beatles and Liverpool-theme artwork created by Paul Curtis who is known for his work around the city including the Baltic Triangle's famous wings.

There will also be a games room and screens to show live football and other sports.

Abbey Road will also be a sister venue to Harrisons Bar which is based on the corner of North John Street and Victoria Street.

General Manager of the site Brandon Soprano said “We are looking forward to rejuvinating an iconic old site amongst Liverpool’s pubs and bars with a new concept in the heart of the business district.

"We are ideally located for the after work office crowd and we will be  showing all live sports.

"Our food menu is currently in planning and will be something we will offer on a daily basis, changing each season.”
