Former Packers RB Eddie Lacy works out for Ravens

Former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy could be inching his way back into the NFL. According to Pro Football Talk, Lacy had a workout with the Baltimore Ravens on Friday.

A second-round pick of the Packers in 2013, Lacy was a productive player early in his NFL career but was out of football during the 2018 season. He played four seasons in Green Bay and one in Seattle before sitting out last year without a team.

Over 51 games with the Packers, Lacy rushed 788 times for 3,435 yards and 23 touchdowns. He made a Pro Bowl and was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2013 after rushing for 1,178 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Weight and conditioning issues plagued his final two seasons in Green Bay.

The Packers attempted to bring Lacy back after the 2016 season but he picked an opportunity at a fresh start with the Seahawks in free agency.

In Seattle in 2017, Lacy struggled, gaining only 179 yards on 69 carries. He played in only nine games and was a healthy scratch several weeks.

If his weight is under control, Lacy could give the Ravens another potential option at running back with Gus Edwards and Mark Ingram. Being a 53-man roster come September is probably a long shot for Lacy, but getting into a training camp this summer would be the first step.
