Former Packers OL T.J. Lang announces retirement from NFL

Former Green Bay Packers offensive lineman T.J. Lang is joining Jordy Nelson in retirement.

Lang, who played his first eight seasons with the Packers, announced Friday he’s retiring from the NFL after 10 years.

“I will forever cherish the great times I had playing this game,” Lang wrote.

Lang thanked the Packers in his announcement on Twitter.

“Thank you Green Bay Packers for taking a chance on a 21 year old kid and giving me the opportunity and patience to grow into a man and reach my full potential as a football player,” Lang wrote.

Lang played in 119 games and made 94 starts with the Packers. He became a fixture for the Packers offensive line and eventually made the Pro Bowl as a guard during his final season in Green Bay in 2016.

Lang played his final two seasons in his hometown Detroit with the Lions. He struggled with injuries but managed to play in 19 games, including 13 during a Pro Bowl season in 2017.

“It’s been an amazing ride,” Lang wrote. “Thank you all for being a part of it.”

Lang, a fourth-round pick out of Eastern Michigan, played in 138 total games in the NFL. He made two Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLV.
