Former Packers DL Mike Daniels already receiving interest from ‘at least 7 teams’

The market is strong for former Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Mike Daniels.

Released by the Packers Wednesday, Daniels already has over a half-dozen teams interested in adding him, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

“He’s heard from at least seven teams to this point, I’m told. So he should find a home in short order,” Garafolo reported on NFL Network Wednesday night.

The Packers attempted to trade Daniels over the last few months but found no takers. However, the Cleveland Browns, New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs were among the teams most interested in dealing for Daniels and are likely still interested in signing him now, per Garafolo.

Daniels suffered a season-ending foot injury last November and was about to enter the final year of his contract in 2019. Instead of keeping him on the roster for one more season, the Packers decided to part ways now, clearing over $8 million in cap space and opening up opportunities for others along the defense’s new-look front.

Daniels will likely want to find a new team as soon as possible, given most training camps around the NFL begin this week.

A fourth-round pick in 2012, Daniels ended up playing seven seasons in Green Bay. He produced two sacks, five quarterback hits and one tackle for loss over 10 games in 2018. At his best during a Pro Bowl season in 2017, Daniels tallied five sacks, a career-high 10 tackles for losses and 14 quarterback hits
