Former Packers coach Mike McCarthy has now interviewed for all four coaching vacancies

Four NFL franchises don’t currently have a head coach, and former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy has now interviewed for all four vacancies.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, McCarthy is meeting with the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday, checking off the fourth and final vacancy after previously interviewing with the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers.

The Washington Redskins, the only team that didn’t meet with McCarthy, already hired former Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera.

The Cowboys are expected to move on from coach Jason Garrett, who went 8-8 in 2019 and has an expiring contract. He spent nine seasons in Dallas.

The Packers fired McCarthy in December of 2018, ending his 13-year run in Green Bay. He won 125 regular-season games and led the Packers to six division titles and a victory in Super Bowl XLV.

McCarthy didn’t coach in 2019 but spent the year away from the NFL studying the game and (potentially) reinventing himself as a coach.

Of the four teams, the Packers are scheduled to play only the Panthers in 2020.
