Former OSU QB J.T. Barrett signs with Saints’ practice squad – Again!

Add this to a list of things that aren’t surprising: J.T. Barrett has signed with the New Orleans Saints practice squad, a unit he was very familiar with last season.

After not making the cut earlier in the season, J.T. Barrett signed with the Seattle Seahawks practice squad just to end up back with the Saints following the injury to future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees.

Brees will be out about six weeks with a thumb injury. That injury will cause Teddy Bridgewater to start and Taysom Hill to become the team’s main backup. Barrett will now be third in line.

This news was first released by NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero.

Barrett has never made the 53-man roster for the Saints. He was cut from the team about a month ago. After three weeks with the Seahawks, he was then cut again. As a matter of fact, it’s been a revolving door for Barrett. He’s been released and re-signed so many times now, who can keep track? Now, he’ll have another chance with New Orleans.

Barrett threw for over 3,000 yards his final season at Ohio State prior entering the league as an undrafted free agent.
