Former OSU QB Cardale Jones organized a charity softball game to benefit cancer research

Some guys figure out that the platform they have can be used for the greater good. Often judged as immature early on in his playing days at Ohio State, former quarterback Cardale Jones has come full circle — in a very, very good way.

That’s because Jones organized a charity softball event designed to benefit cancer research, and he brought a lot of his former Buckeye friends and alumni along for the cause. The game took place at the Ohio State softball team’s home Buckeye Field Saturday afternoon.

In attendance included some names you’ll recognize from the past, highlighted by the most decorated Big Ten quarterback of all time, J.T. Barret.

Other names included James Laurinaitis, J.J. Sullinger, Evan Spencer, Bobby Carpenter and many more (highlighted below).

And as you would expect, it was a high-scoring affair. The teams were split into two squads with Jones captaining one, and Barrett another. Team J.T. won the contest in a hard fought, calculator inducing 35-25 affair thanks in large part to a monster of a sixth inning in which his squad put up twenty — yes twenty — runs.

Most importantly though, the game raised a good amount that will go to cancer research. The tickets cost $20 each, and there were raffles as well. The total amount raised is unknown, but according to an article by Eleven Warriors, two signed Barrett jersey’s brought in $1,200 alone.

Good on you Cardale. And good on all the former Buckeyes that came together for such a good cause. It was a very good day.
