Former OSU guard Aaron Craft named defensive player of year in Italian league

This will probably come as a surprise to nobody that watched former Ohio State point guard Aaron Craft during his four years as a Buckeye, but he was just named the defensive player of the year Monday in the top Italian basketball league, Serie A.

Craft plays for Aquila Basket Trento and beat out four other players for the award. Jeffrey Brooks, Jeremy Chappell, Julyan Stone and Tyler Cain were also finalists for the award, but it’s no surprise that Craft continues to terrorize opposing defenders no matter what team or what league he plays in.

Craft was often hated by opposing fans, players and coaches, but that’s because he got under the skin of opponents with his tenacious defending and hustle.

You corner coaches after games though and even after a career, and a different picture is painted.

Congrats to one of the all-time fan favorites to ever step foot on the hardwood in Columbus.
