Former One Direction star releasing new rap song

One Direction Zayn Malik

Zayn Malik has previewed his forthcoming debut rap song, Fuchsia Sea, on Instagram.
The song's lyrics address the racism Malik experienced during his time with the boy band One Direction.
Malik, who is of Pakistani, English, and Irish descent, raps about working hard in a white band and being laughed at for his Asian heritage.
He spent five years with One Direction before his departure in 2015, initially citing a desire for a normal life but later admitting competitive reasons for his solo career.
Malik recently reunited with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson at Liam Payne's funeral in November 2024.
