Former Oilers signal-caller Warren Moon named Touchdown Wire’s best Titans quarterback in the Super Bowl era

The Tennessee Titans have struggled at quarterback for years, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been some bright spots.

One of these was former Houston Oilers signal-caller Warren Moon, who was named the best Titans quarterback in the Super Bowl era by the Touchdown Wire.

“A legend in the CFL and NFL. Warren Moon has pinball numbers in both leagues,” Barry Werner wrote. “Can’t imagine what they would be if he had spent his entire career South of the border.”

Moon spent 10 seasons with the Oilers (1984-1993), then had a few short stints with the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings before joining the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos from 1978 to 1983.

He completed 2,632 of 4,546 passes for 33,685 yards with 196 touchdowns and 166 interceptions for the Oilers.

He received recognition as NFL Man of the Year in 1989, and as AFC Player of the Year, NFL Offensive Player of the Year and NEA NFL Most Valuable Player in 1990.

Moon also was named to the Pro Bowl nine times over his professional career, and was inducted into the Titans/Oilers Ring of Honor.
