Former Ohio State wide running back Rod Smith signs with the Giants

With Mike Weber being drafted in the seventh round of this year’s NFL Draft, that meant the Cowboys found their replacement for former Ohio State running back Rod Smith.

But Smith’s NFL career continues on, and in the NFC East no-less. The four-year pro who spent the last three seasons with the Cowboys signed with the New York Giants Wednesday according to multiple reports.

Smith, who played for Ohio State from 2011-2014, had a number of problems during his stint with the Buckeyes, but those issues didn’t stop him from piling up ten touchdowns in his career and displaying the type of potential that could have eventually made him a star.

After going undrafted in 2015, he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks before being released mid-season, then picked up by the Cowboys.

During his time in Dallas, he rushed for 364 yards and five touchdowns. Now he gets another shot to show everyone what he can do. Dallas sure does like them some Ohio State running backs.
