Former Ohio State wide receiver Parris Campbell to get new number in Indianapolis

By now, if you’ve watched Parris Campbell streak past Michigan defenders on the way to the end zone, then you know the number he wore at Ohio State. And it wasn’t just Michigan, Campbell had a knack for taking short swing passes, finding a hole and then simply running faster than anyone else to rip off a big gain.

He did it all while wearing No. 21, and I’m sure he’d love to keep that number.

However, one of the byproducts of getting an opportunity at the next level is that there are others that have come before you that also have a preference in jersey number — and as we all know — a number can become a part of a brand and identity for a player.

Enter stage left then Campbell’s new number in Indianapolis. Second-year running back Nyheim Hines already has the No. 21 wrapped up, and rookies are rarely afforded first pick when it comes to these sorts of things.

So, according to the official Colts Twitter feed, Campbell’s new number in the Indy blue will be …

Yes, the number 15. It’s not a bad one, but it’ll take some getting used to. Never fear though because defenders won’t get to see what number he’s wearing — it’ll just be a blur heading down the field.
