Former Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas claps back over use of “The” in NFL introductions

Former Ohio State football players are still Buckeyes and will always represent, defending their traditions without a second thought. Well, Michael Thomas did just that recently.

Ohio State has made it a tradition of being “The Ohio State University” when introduced at the beginning of NFL games.

Michael Thomas, Eli Apple, Marshon Lattimore, Vonn Bell and Ted Ginn Jr., all New Orleans Saints, are just a handful of the 40-plus players that make sure fans know that the most often used word in the English language isn’t forgotten when talking about their school.

When being introduced on the Chiefs’ defense during the team’s Sunday Night Football loss, former Oklahoma State Cowboys’ defensive end, Emmanuel Ogbah wanted those to know it was “The Oklahoma State University.”

Michael Thomas wasn’t having any of it.

Thomas is allowed to brag a bit after a career day for the superstar wide receiver after an offseason that saw him receive a record-breaking extension. Against a less-than-stellar Buccaneers defense, he put up 182 yards and two touchdowns on 11 receptions.

After the team’s fifth win, he took to Twitter, backing the university he spent honed his craft at. Thomas, perhaps The best wide-receiver in the game, is putting everyone else on notice that there’s only one The when it comes to college programs.
