Former Ohio State wide receiver Jalin Marshall signs with the Raiders

Just when you thought all the free-agents and rookies had been snatched up by NFL teams, out comes more news of a former Ohio State wide-receiver getting another crack at things. The Oakland Raiders announced on Twitter today that former Buckeye player Jalin Marshall has been signed to free agent contract Tuesday.

Marshall, who declared early for the NFL Draft in 2016 and went undrafted, eventually got a chance with the New York Jets as a free agent and made the team. He broke through and got some time as the fourth string wide-receiver in 2016, but then things got a little hairy.

Marshall was suspended at the beginning of the 2017 season for a violation of the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances and was eventually released by the Jets after being demoted to the practice squad for a year. He then famously had a stint with the Orlando Apollos of the now defunct Alliance of American Football League where he shined before operations were shut down.

Now it appears he’ll get yet another shot at catching on with an NFL team — and who knows — if he can keep his nose clean this year and show more of those flashes he’s given everyone glimpses of recently, he might just stick.
