The New Orleans Saints have signed former Ohio State tight end Nick Vannett to a three-year deal as reported by Mike Garafalo of the NFL Network. The financial terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
Vannett was a third-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2016 and spent three seasons in the Emerald City. His most productive year came in 2018 when he hauled in 29 catches for 269 yards and three touchdowns. However, the former Buckeye is known more for his blocking abilities.
Vannett also spent time in Pittsburgh and most recently in Denver where he became a victim of the Broncos salary-cap cut. The versatile tight end appeared in 15 games with Denver and caught 14 passes and a touchdown. Blocking will still be the strength of Vannett’s game, while the Saints will turn to Adam Trautman to handle most of the pass-catching duties.

Vannett joins a host of former Buckeyes in the Big Easy. Some of the familiar faces include Michael Thomas, Marshon Lattimore, and Malcolm Jenkins.
