Former Ohio State standout Dwayne Haskins: “I know I will be great.”

Former Ohio State star quarterback Dwayne Haskins is not shy of confidence. After a rough start in his preseason debut with the Washington Redskins, Haskins made it known that he believes in his on-field abilities.

That was apparent when the Buckeye legend talked with ESPN’s John Keim.

“I had to come to terms with that. Now that I’ve been here for a little bit, it’s like, man, it’s a process. … By no means am I settling. I know that I want to be great and I know I will be great. It’s just that I have to be in a place where I know what I’m doing.”

At least at the collegiate level, Haskins and his record-setting 50 touchdowns showcased almost everything an NFL scout could ask for. However, the rookie quarterback was still the No. 15 pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and the third QB taken off the board.

That in no way has shaken his confidence, which, for a rookie entering the league, is important. To be fair, Haskins may prepare for a rough rookie season all around as Washington is void of elite playmaking on the edges.

For Haskins, it’ll be all about doing his part.

In his debut, Haskins was intercepted twice, completing just 8 of his 14 attempts. He must be better, and it’s positive to see that he believes he will be.
