Former Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell signs deal with Houston Texans

After waiting what seems like a full off-season, former three-year Ohio State safety Tyvis Powell is signing a deal with the Houston Texans.

Powell is coming off two seasons with the 49ers after originally starting his career with the Seattle Seahawks. He spend three years in Columbus before taking his talents to the next level.

Coming out of Ohio State undrafted, Powell has played for several teams and has been on the sideline for a few more. Overall, Powell’s seen snaps in just 18 games overall.

However, as first reported by the Houston Chronicle, that didn’t matter to the Texans who are signing him. The details of the contract are unknown at this time, but for Powell, it’s another chance to further his career in the NFL.

In his three seasons with OSU, Powell recorded over 100 tackles and 8 interceptions. Not having found true success in the league, we wish the best to him after providing some memorable moments to Ohio State fans, perhaps none better than the video below.
