Former Ohio State RB Carlos Hyde released by the Jacksonville Jaguars

Former Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde sure is having a hard time catching on with a team long-term. Over the last year, Hyde has been with the 49ers, Browns, and then Jaguars. It appears he’ll now be on his fourth, granted another NFL team picks him up.

Adam Schefter originally broke the news that it was going to happen, and Ian Rapoport confirmed the move by the Jags in a later Tweet.

Hyde struggled to catch on early in Columbus, but had a breakout season under Urban Meyer in 2012, narrowly missing 1,000 yards. He followed that up with over 1,500 yards on the ground in 2013, then was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Hyde had come to Cleveland after a solid four years in San Fransciso, but after he only averaged 3.4 yards per carry, that experiment ended in a trade to Jacksonville.

Now that too has come to an end. We’ll be watching to see what interest there is in Hyde and will bring it to you if and when it happens.
