Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor released by Jaguars

Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor has been released by the Jacksonville Jaguars after being placed on Injured Reserve just a couple of days prior. According to sources, a settlement was reached for his injury and he is now free agent and on the market for a new team.

The news was first circulated that he was cut, then that he was placed on IR, then confirmed that he worked out the settlement with the team. He is now reportedly healthy and now no longer a part of things in Jacksonville. It has to be another frustrating situation for a guy with such raw talent.

The NFL Networks Ian Rapaport was the first to break the news.

Pryor came out a year early from Ohio State in 2010 largely because of rumors surrounding improper benefits during Jim Tressel’s last days at Ohio State. His athleticism and speed were tantalizing for teams at the quarterback position and he was drafted in the supplemental draft in 2011. Despite flashes of promise, he never really caught on while making stops with the Raiders, Seahawks, Bengals, and Chiefs as a quarterback.

He eventually converted to wide-receiver full time with the Browns and enjoyed modest success before becoming a bit of a journeyman. The watch is now on to see if another team takes a chance on the 6-4, 227 pounder.
