It’s the offseason of college football, and that means the linchpin of musical chairs for the sport, the transfer portal, is still humming right along. Ohio State hasn’t been hit as hard by defections as some programs the last couple of years like others, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still some athletes looking to head to another program for a fresh start.
Former Ohio State offensive lineman Max Wray is one such instance. He entered the transfer portal last month, and it appears as though he has decided on a destination. According to multiple reports, Wray will be transferring to the Colorado Buffaloes.
Rivals’ Mike Farrell first reported the news, and it has since been confirmed by other sites.
Though Wray spent three years in Columbus, he could still have three years of eligibility remaining. He used a redshirt early in his career, and can also take advantage of the extra year of eligibility the NCAA granted everyone due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That means he’ll have plenty of time to carve out a solid career over in the Pac-12.
Though Wray was a four-star recruit, he got lost in a numbers game at Ohio State. He was always in the mix for playing time, but was always seemingly beaten out by just a wee bit by others. He did start one game at Michigan State last season when Ohio State was dealing with significant COVID-19 cases, but he didn’t get much time after that.

Now, Wray will be looking for a new lease on his college football life out in Boulder. We can say with certainty that he won’t be disappointed by the views at the base of the Rocky Mountains.
