Former Ohio State linebacker Keandre Jones granted NCAA waiver to play immediately at Maryland

Just when you think you have it all figured out with this transfer business, you don’t. Trust me. Friday news broke that former Ohio State linebacker Keandre Jones was granted a waiver from the NCAA for immediate eligibility at Maryland.

That’s not taking anything away from Jones, but it comes at a time in which the NCAA has been tightening the vice grips a bit on players making it through the transfer portal gauntlet to come out the other side with a waiver.

For Jones — and Maryland — it has to be welcome news. Despite possessing freakish talent, Jones struggled staying healthy at Ohio State and finally decided that it was in his best interest to transfer. So, off he went, landing on his feet with new head coach Mike Locksley and the ‘Terps.

We say good on him, and we’ll be rooting for the former Buckeye to make a name for himself in College Park.
