Former Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker signs contract extension with Dolphins

Former Ohio State linebacker Jerome Baker will be a Miami Dolphin for a few more years. According to a release by the team, Baker has signed a contract extension through the 2024 season.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the three-year extension is worth $39 million, inclusive of a guaranteed $28.4 million.

For Baker, it should take him into his seventh year as a pro when the contract expires and keeps him in Miami. He was drafted by the Dolphins in the third round by the Dolphins in the 2018 NFL draft.

Baker had himself one whale of a campaign in 2020. He told 112 total tackles and seven sacks, and also recorded two forced fumbles and three pass deflections. For his career, he’s tallied 317 tackles, 11.5 sacks, and intercepted a pair of passes.

Congrats to Baker. Not bad for a guy that wasn’t even thought to be a starter at Ohio State until he broke through after starter Dante Booker was injured. He took off from there.
