Former Ohio State guard D’Angelo Russell finalist for NBA’s Most Improved Player Award

By all accounts and measures, it has been a breakout year for former Ohio State guard D’Angelo Russell. After a couple of years making more news off the court than on it, he’s found a home with the Brooklyn Nets after being run out of town in L.A., and even made his first All-Star game this season.

Now, he’s up for another award. According to to many who have already shared the news, Russell is one of three finalists for the Kia Most Improved Player Award. The other two finalists are Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox and Toronto’s Pascal Siakam.

We might be a little biased here, but it’s hard to imagine anyone of the three winning this thing than Russell. From simply trying to find a club that he fit in well with to becoming one of the most dangerous players in the game, the award should be a slam dunk for the former Buckeye star.

The winner will be announced June 24.
