Former Ohio State DB Kendall Sheffield reportedly met with Houston Texans Wednesday

According to the Houston Chronicle, former Ohio State defensive-back Kendall Sheffield met with the Houston Texans Wednesday.

Sheffield suffered a partially torn pectoral muscle during the bench press at the NFL Combine and had to sit out the rest of the on-field drills, but since then, he had a workout for 27 teams at OSU, and has since been making some rounds individually with teams.

You can’t teach speed and that’s most likely the reason he is garnering so much interest. Sheffield still holds the school’s record in the 60-meter dash and might have put up the best 40-time of anyone at the draft given the chance at the combine.

He’s still raw and showed some warts at times last year in the Buckeyes’ secondary, but given time and allowed to develop, he could be a rare and underrated find.

Sheffield came to Ohio State after initially committing to Alabama as a five-star prospect. He eventually made his way to Columbus as a junior college transfer out of Blinn College in Texas.

He is currently projected to go anywhere from round three through five.
