Former Ohio State big man Greg Oden officially graduates

His story is well told. Former Ohio State big man and No. 1 overall NBA Lottery pick Greg Oden endured injury after injury and never really got the potential of what he could be in the NBA started. In the end, he had to make the tough decision to retire and choose a different path, one that led him back to Columbus to try his hand at coaching — and while he was there — to get back on track with earning a degree from THE Ohio State University.

Mission accomplished.

On Sunday, Oden was a part of a record number of undergraduates to receiver their degree at Ohio State. For him, it was almost thirteen years since he started his college journey that has had more twists and turns than coastal mountain highway. He can now say that he has a bachelor’s degree in sport industry, and there’s no doubt he’ll try and use that and his background to continue the coaching track.

And from there? Who knows? Good things couldn’t happen to a better man that has had to persevere like few in the history of the game.
