Former Ohio State basketball player Terence Dials added to Chris Holtmann’s staff

In the midst of all the buzz and hype surrounding the beginning of another football season for Ohio State, we’ve got news in Buckeye hoops. Today, the Ohio State basketball team announced the addition of former OSU big man Terrence Dias as the Director of Professional Development.

The addition of Dials is in response to the departure of Scoonie Penn earlier in the year from a similar role on Chris Holtmann’s staff. Penn accepted a position as an assistant coach in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies.

Here is the complete release from Ohio State.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Terence Dials, the 2006 Big Ten Player of the Year and 2015 inductee into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame, has been named the director of professional development with the men’s basketball program, Chris Holtmann, head coach of the Buckeyes, announced Wednesday.

Dials, who lettered in 2002 and then from 2004-06, played 132 games during his career, scoring 1,566 points and grabbing 867 rebounds. His point total rates No. 14 all-time in Ohio State history while his rebound total is ranked No. 5.

His duties will primarily include providing and arranging professional development and community service opportunities for the Buckeyes. Dials will work with the Eugene D. Smith Leadership Institute to arrange internships, mentors, job fairs and other personal and career growth initiatives for student-athletes. He also will provide academic support, oversight and mentoring.

Congrats to Dials on the new position and for coming home.
