Former Ohio State assistant Zach Smith arrested for violation of Civil Protection Order

Here we go again. After a summer of unfortunate news relating to former Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith last year, things seemed to quiet down. Smith was fired from Ohio State, then got in a nasty media battle that involved his wife, both lawyer’s and one Brett McMurphy that turned from bad, to worse, to about as sad as you can get.

Then things seemed to settle after all parties came to an agreement on a Civil Protection Order as a result of alleged domestic abuse. We don’t make the news, we just react to it. And far be it from us to try and determine what the really happened, and who was at fault with what — but either way — it was a moment everyone involved wished never happened.

Well, guess who’s back in the news? Yes, after only showing up on Twitter with some vengeance to dole out, Smith has now been arrested for violating a Civil Protection Order according to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

The news was first reported by Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade and quickly spread across multiple new outlets. The arrest was a result of Smith “becoming confrontational with staff at Scioto Ridge Elementary when they did not allow him to pick up his children.”

We’ll continue to follow this story, but Smith’s lawyer released a statement on the incident as well.

“Same old, same old. Absolutely malicious move by his ex-wife to have Zach arrested at their kids’ school when he was there to pick them up. She’s in contempt of court for not giving him the kids last night which she was supposed to. Just very sad for the children. 100% avoidable by both of them.”

You have to feel for all parties that are victim to what continues to take place with all of this.
