Former Notts County striker working his way back from 'lowest point'

Former Notts County striker Callum Saunders is slowly working his way back up the divisions after sealing a move to Conference North side Curzon Ashton.

Saunders bagged 10 goals last season for Nantwich Town having joined the Dabbers following his release from Notts last summer.

Son of former Liverpool forward, Dean, Saunders played six times for Notts under previous manager Kevin Nolan, but failed to score.

He will be expected to help Curzon enjoy a better season than they endured last term when they finished outside the relegation zone.

Writing on his Twitter account, the forward said: "Thanks to everyone @TheDabbers for last season, especially the gaffer and the lads who took me at my lowest point and got me back enjoying football again, forever grateful!

"However I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to move up a league, all the best next season!"

Saunders learned his trade at Crewe Alexandra where he made his league debut before moving on to Notts following a successful trial spell in the summer of 2017.

The 23-year-old has also represented Wales at U19 and U21 level.
