Former Notts County managerial candidate odds on to take Lincoln City job

Michael Appleton is odds on favourite to take charge of Lincoln City.

The former West Brom coach was linked with the Notts job prior to Neal Ardley's arrival last November having spoken to the club after Harry Kewell's sacking.

Appleton is looking for a return to management after his time at Leicester City where he was caretaker boss in 2017 and had watched Notts in their 4-0 defeat to Barnsley in the FA Cup, which was Kewell's last game in charge.

He is now priced 1/4 to succeed Danny Cowley at Lincoln City after he left to join Championship Huddersfield earlier this month.

Former Notts manager Kevin Nolan is also interested in the job after he was sacked last August by Notts just five games into the season.

But the bookmakers don't believe he is among the favourites with Gareth Ainsworth and Michael Flynn, of Wycombe and Newport respectively, sitting second and third in the odds

Nolan is 25/1 with the bookmakers to take over at Lincoln while another ex-Notts manager, Jamie Fullarton, is 33/1.

Lincoln are currently eighth in League One after an excellent start to the season and drew 1-1 with Rochdale on Tuesday night.
