Former Notts County defender Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain seals non-league move

Former Notts County defender Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain has moved back to the south coast after sealing a move to Southern League Premier Division outfit Gosport.

The former Magpies defender was released by the Magpies in the summer having been part of a clearout ahead of a busy summer of transfer business at Meadow Lane.

And Chamberlain, who had signed from Oxford City two years ago, has moved back south and featured in Gosport's starting 11 for the Premier Division South opener against Chesham.

The 22-year-old, who is the brother of Liverpool star Alex,  struggled to nail down a first-team place at Meadow Lane last season and in two years at the club made just three appearances.

However, he did play in their National League opener against Eastleigh last season in what was his only appearance for Neal Ardley's side last term.

The defender, who spent time on loan at Ilkeston last season, counts Portsmouth as one of his previous clubs, but he also had spells at Poole, Salisbury and Eastbourne Borough.
