Former Nottinghamshire 'Pub of the Year' set to reopen under new management

An award-winning Nottinghamshire pub is set to reopen under new management.

The Plough Inn at Normanton-on-the-Wolds, in Old Melton Road, was once voted the best in Nottinghamshire before it shut its doors permanently in July last year.

The closure came less than a year after it scooped the prestigious 'Pub of the Year' title at the Nottinghamshire Food and Drink Awards in October 2019.

Now, the Railway at Lowdham has announced it is reopening the Plough at Normanton on May 17.

Staff at the pub say they are "extremely excited" about undertaking the project at what is a difficult time for the industry.

The Railway announced on its Facebook page: "Exciting News! We have today signed on the dotted line for The Plough at Normanton On The Wolds!

"We are extremely excited to be doing something so positive and creative after such a difficult year for our industry.

"The Plough is a beautiful pub. Refurbishment works have started today. We plan to open 17th May.

"We can not wait to welcome our new neighbours in Normanton on The Wolds, it’s surrounding villages and of course you, our superb, loyal customers."

Mark and Rachel Hughes, who formerly ran the Plough, have since taken over at nearby Air Hostess in Tollerton, after a group of residents campaigned and purchased the pub from the brewery.

They had run the country pub in Normanton-on-the-Wolds for 14 years before its closure.
