Former Nottingham Forest winger linked with Derby County transfer a year after leaving Reds

Former Nottingham Forest winger Albert Adomah has been linked with a move across the East Midlands divide, to Derby County.

The 33-year-old left the City Ground during the last summer transfer window, as part of a squad overhaul, and joined Championship rivals QPR.

But regular game time has proved hard to come by at Rangers, and the suggestion is Adomah could head elsewhere during the coming weeks in a bid to find more first-team opportunities.

He made 34 appearances for Mark Warburton’s side during the campaign just gone, but 27 of those came from off the substitutes’ bench, while he found the back of the net twice.

He is now said to be “weighing up his options” amid interest from a number of clubs.

According to Football League World, the Reds’ arch-enemies are among those reportedly keen on securing his signature, should he decide to move on.

Along with the Rams, Bristol City, Ipswich Town, Luton Town and Birmingham City are all said to be interested in Adomah.

The former Middlesbrough and Aston Villa man left Forest by mutual consent on international transfer deadline day last October, making the switch to the club he had supported as a boy.

“This is unreal, unbelievable," he said at the time. “Imagine being a supporter and playing for the club you love.

"Words can’t even describe it. It’s just amazing, just a pleasure to be here.”

Adomah had spent little more than a year on the banks of the Trent, going on loan to Cardiff City during the second half of the 2019/20 campaign.
