Former Nottingham Forest target reportedly set for £50m Manchester United move

Former Nottingham Forest target John McGinn is reportedly set to join Manchester United for £50m.

The Reds were keen to sign the Scotland midfielder from Hibernian in the summer of 2017 with a bid of £750,000 said to have been rejected.

Then manager Mark Warburton was left frustrated as McGinn joined Aston Villa a year later for a reported fee of £2.7m.

He helped Villa win promotion to the Premier League last season with a series of impressive performances in the middle of the park.

Now United are said to be ready to launch a bid for the 24-year-old as Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer tries to reshape a squad which under performed last season.

The Sun on Sunday say McGinn is one of his targets.

However, Villa boss Dean Smith is ready to offer an improved contract in a bid to keep McGinn at Villa Park.
