Former Nottingham Forest target joins Premier League outfit

Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeping target Wes Foderingham has joined Sheffield United.

The 29-year-old was tracked by the Reds under former boss Mark Warburton who know him well from their time together at Rangers, but the deal failed to come to fruition.

Foderingham remained at Ibrox before leaving at the end of his contract last month, and has penned a three-year deal at Bramall Lane.

"I'm delighted to join Sheffield United,” he said.

"It is an exciting time for the club after an incredible first season back in the Premier League. I'm looking forward to meeting the team and can't wait to get started."

Foderingham joins ex-Reds Ben Osborn, David McGoldrick, Jack Robinson, Kieron Freeman and Billy Sharp, while former Forest man Darren Ward is Chris Wilder’s goalkeeping coach in the Steel City, and spoke glowingly of his new arrival.

"We have followed his development for a number of years and are delighted to be able to bring him in to bolster the goalkeeping department to give us options and competition for places,” said Ward.

“Wes is an experienced 'keeper and we look forward to working with him."
