Former Nottingham Forest striker lands Sheffield United role

Former Nottingham Forest striker and academy boss Jack Lester has returned to football with a role at Sheffield United.

The 43-year-old has been out of the game for over a year, following his departure from nearby Chesterfield - a club where he is considered a legend.

During his time at the City Ground as a player, Lester made 87 appearances and scored 14 goals before leaving to join the Blades in 2003.

But he returned to Trentside in 2014 to manage Forest's Under-18s and Under-23s sides.

Now he will take charge of United's youth ranks as he leads a management restructure at their academy.

"I'm delighted to be back with the club, being a Sheffield lad and a former player," he told the club's website.

"This club is close to my heart and is great to be able to take the reins and continue the excellent work that has gone on at the SteelPhalt Academy over the years.

"With the assistance of the dedicated staff, I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone in the coming weeks and months."
